Affordable Housing at Simon Fraser University

Location: Burnaby, BC

This 90-unit rental apartment complex aims to address the urgent need for good quality affordable housing for young families near Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby Mountain Campus. The goal is to create a simple yet elegant building that will be durable, comfortable and affordable. Energy modeling was integrated into the design process in order to optimize the performance-cost ratio and make well-informed decisions.

Evelyne began collaborating on this project as part of the architectural team at Local Practice Architecture + Design. After she moved back to Quebec and founded Tandem, she continued to work remotely on the project as passive house advisor and energy modeler.
