Evelyne Bouchard

Architect OAQ
Certified Passivhaus Designer

Evelyne is passionate about the overlap between thoughtful design and technical rigour. She strives to embed sustainable design principles and measurable performance into the creative process to design projects that are durable, sustainable, functional and beautiful.

As part of her commitment to climate-resilient architecture, Evelyne served on the board of directors of Passive House Canada from 2017 to 2023.  She teaches Passive House courses for architects, engineers and builders to help build industry capacity to deliver high-quality, future-proof projects. She is also helping train the next generation of architects as a course instructor at McGill University.

After working in architecture offices in London (UK), Montreal and Vancouver, she returned to her roots by setting up her own architectural practice in Hemmingford, QC, just down the road from the farm where her grandmother grew up. She founded Tandem Architecture Écologique to create sustainable and energy-efficient projects, and to promote architectural quality in rural areas.

Evelyne's professional life is divided into three themes:

PRACTICING
ARCHITECTURE

A change of this magnitude is a team effort that is the result of conversations between people involved in the entire decision-making ecosystem, from the regulatory framework to the construction site.

ACCELERATING
CLIMATE ACTION

TEACHING

Training the next generation of architects, and helping professionals integrate new, more energy-efficient practices into their projects

The projects are an opportunity to demonstrate that high-performance, environmentally-friendly buildings are feasible, to apply best practices and to explore new ideas.
